Frequently Asked Questions |
|
Q: How do I get started?
|
A: As soon as we receive your contact information, we will schedule a time to meet with you in your home to discuss your project. At this meeting will get to know your projects needs and
the goal you want to achieve. We try to get as many details as we can, in order to give you
as accurate a quote as possible. Depending on the size and scope of the job, it usually it
takes about a week to get back to you with a detailed proposal stating everything that is
included and what is not. |
|
|
Q: Is your price guaranteed?
|
A: Yes, our jobs have a fixed price contract. You will know all of the costs up front along
with a payment schedule that will coincide with each stage of your project. Occasionally a
customer will request that we work on a time and material basis. This is rare and is
generally on smaller jobs.

|
|
Q: How long will it take to finish my project? |
A: A firm work schedule will be included in our proposal.
|
|
|
Q: Are you insured?
|
A: Yes. We are fully insured with Contractors liability and Workmans compensation insurance.
We can have a certificate of insurance issued to you at your request.
|
|
|
Q: Are you licensed?
|
A: Yes. The state of Illinois does not require or issue a license for general contractors. It
does require roofing contractors to be licensed and bonded. ADF Remodeling does carry a
current Illinois Roofing license number 104.013863 - 105.001959. Like most general
contractors our electrical and plumbing work is preformed by subcontractors which both have
to be licensed. Their license numbers are available on request.
Many local municipalities in the Chicago suburbs issue and require their own contractor
license that must be current before any permits will be issued. Because most city licenses
renew yearly and require a fee and bonding., we keep our local licenses current on a as
needed basis. |
|
|
Q: Who will be running my project?
|
A: We believe that thorough planning and constant communication with our customer is essential
to assure a pleasant remodeling experience and that the end result is what you envisioned.
Thats why Frank the owner and/or Bob Wing second in command, run every job and will be on
the job every day. We will keep you updated on every aspect of your projects progress on a
daily basis. We believe our personal service will let you rest assured and remove much of
the uncertainty and anxiety of remodeling your home.

|
Q: Do we need a building permit? |
A: Most remodeling projects do require a building permit. The criteria for whether or not a
permit is required may vary depending on the city or county government where you live.
Generally a permit is required when adding or changing any structural elements of the
existing residence, adding any additional living space, any electrical, plumbing, or
roofing. Decks and out buildings like garages, sheds, and gazebos normally require a
building permit also. In some cities you need a permit to install new siding. ADF Remodeling
will secure any permits necessary to build your project. The cost of the building permit is
most often based on the cost of the improvements and varies substantially from town to town.
For this reason we usually do not include this cost in our contract

|
Q: What if we want to change something? |
A: Changes are part of remodeling. Many changes are minor and we expect some on each job
because field conditions often are not exactly how the drawings show them. And somethings
are hard to visualize until we start opening things up and building walls. We will ask for
your input on critical layouts like windows and fixtures. If any changes you decide to make
involve additional labor and/or material cost we will write a change order outlining the
changes and the additional cost. It then has to be approved and signed by the homeowner.
Then it becomes part of the original contract.

|

as the industry standard. |
